Solukhumbu Treks & Expedition offers an overwhelming adventure on Mt. Kanchenjunga Expeditions on top of worlds 3rd highest mountains at 8, 586 meters high, one of world toughest and much Technical Mountain to climb.

Mt. Kanchenjunga at 8,586 m, also spelled as Kanchendzonga in Tibetan language meaning "the five jewels of the great snow range" that straddles between Nepal and Sikkim borders.

It was first climbed by a British team led by George Band in 1956. Kanchenjunga an enormous massif mountain with many satellite peaks which rises from its narrow icy ridges It is the last and most easterly located 8,000 meters mountains.

The first early explorer to Kanchenjunga was the British botanist JD Hooker, who visited the area twice in 1848 and 1849. Exploration from Sikkim side and continued with both British veteran exploring and mapping taking photograph until 1899.

In that year a party led by Douglas fresh field made a circuit of Kanchenjunga and produced what is still one of the most authoritative maps of the region. The Japanese took up the challenge and mounted expeditions in 1973 and 1976 during which they climbed Yalun Kang. A German Expedition climbed Yalung Kang in 1975, and in 1977 an Indian army team mounted the second successful expedition to the main summit of Kanchenjunga.

Solukhumbu Treks and Expedition leads to both base camps of South and North Kanchenjunga, the earlier British used the south route to the summit, after exploring around Yalung glacier and south base camp then heading higher at Pangpema around North Kanchenjunga base camp after leaving the tree lines behind for arctic landscapes of ice and snow.

The climbing route from North Face will be much safer, although not the easiest way to reach the summit. Climb of Kanchenjunga begin from scenic base camp.
First challenge is fixing up 900m of intricate mixed climbing to the North col. This provides the most challenging climbing of the expedition, after creating a lifeline to and from the North ridge. Using our Sherpa guide support with oxygen you move at a systematically slow velocity higher and higher up the mountain. This is a highly satisfying climb for the expert Climbers.

From the top enjoy the views of Mt. Everest (8,848m / 29, 028ft) Lhotse (8,516 m-24,940 ft), world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu (8,463 m / 27, 766 ft) Baruntse (7,160 m), and both side of world’s 3rd highest Kanchenjunga with many other smaller unnamed peaks.
